Post-Thanksgiving Day Post

Thanksgiving

Skinny jeans (AE), military jacket (Anthropologie), blue and white striped oxford (Ralph Lauren), multi-strand pearls (J. Crew outlets), pearl bracelet (J. Crew outlets), belt (belted cow), and sperrys.

Well it's Sunday afternoon and unfortunately Thanksgiving and Black Friday are over. I hope all of you had a safe and wonderful time with your family. I also hope that my college student readers find their way back to school in one piece.

My thanksgiving was very relaxing. I loved having no responsibilities other than to enjoy my family and friends' company. Above I posted a set of my thanksgiving day outfit. We dress comfortable and casual for our thanksgiving day dinner. How did you dress?

Questioning a hiatus

W.M.L. has been on hiatus for the summer and may or may not continue. I'm unsure if I want to continue this blog...unless my interest  suddenly sparks again. We shall see if I come back to blogger or if I decide to do something more with tumblr.

Are any of you also faced with this dilemma?

Seersucker: A Family Affair

My family isn't the preppiest out there. However, today while shopping in my parent's closet, I found this green seersucker sports coat belonging to my Dad. To say that I'm proud of him would be an understatement.

Seeing this piece in my parent's closet brought me into a seersucker-searching kind of mood. Here are a few pieces that I wish were in my closet/other's.

Unfortunately, there are definitely not enough guys that wear seersucker where I go to school or back at home. For whichever reason, light blue seersucker anything is my favorite.

Have you checked out Lilly's collection of seersucker dresses? They are all so adorable and perfect for spring/summer weather.

Oh seersucker bottoms and tugs....so beautiful! I need to buy a pair of sunglasses so that I may finally order a pair of tugs. I'm definitely eying the pink, yellow, and green pair. Too cute! As for the bottoms, I am in love with the ruffle skirt and the patchwork shorts. I need a paycheck!!!!!!

Do you own any seersucker pieces?

Headband Love

Good Morning :)

My grandparents came yesterday afternoon and brought the most delicious casserole. I need to steal the recipe from my grandma and post it on here, it was amazing. More importantly though, it was so nice to see them! We sat and chatted before my friend came over to pick me up to go see a movie. I'll talk about my friend and I's time together later on, but today I promised you a preppy post.

Well here goes it. I love headbands. I'm a prep through-and-through when it comes to hair accessories. I love how absolutely versatile they are, how they can "classform" any outfit, and how there are just so many different styles to choose from. For this blog post, I really want to share with you a few of my favorite headbands from my collection, and a few that I've been eying.

There are well over twenty headbands that I keep stored in this wire basket. It's the perfect size for keeping them contained, yet unfortunately my collection is growing much too fast. Target will most likely be receiving a visit from me shortly concerning a new storage container!!!

Now here are my favorites:

This is a really pretty brown silk headband that I received from Christmas. It's huge.

My boyfriend gave me this headband for Christmas (from Nordstrom). I fell in love with it at the store and the boyfriend, amazing as he is, remembered my description of it and went back to the store to get it for me as a present. It is definitely one of my favorites because of how nicely it's made. Additionally, I love the colors!!!!!

This is my favorite headband of all time. It was super cheap from.....H&M last year. If I could, I would wear it with every outfit. It just works perfectly with everything.

I love these headbands because of their spring colors. They were super super cheap so I didn't feel bad about spending money on three in the same pattern.

Now here are a few that I've been lusting over lately:

Kiel James Patrick
These headbands are by far my favorite. I just wish I didn't have to order them via the internet.

Fitting name: Audrey Hepburn
Snarkell Brently Whimsikeck

Southern Proper
Aren't the elephants adorable? Definitely a must for elections.
Elephant Belle Band

Smathers and Branson
Why do I love this color combo so much? Oh and yes, this headband deserves extra love for being a needlepoint headband.
Orange and Blue Repp Stripe

I think through writing this post, my favorite thing about headbands is the varying price-range. I own headbands that range in price, yet some of my favorite headbands were bought at great, super low prices. If you love headbands as much as I do, then keep your eyes open for those inexpensive gems!

What does your favorite headband at home look like?

Summer Wish List

I miss my beautiful Georgetown.

I miss the beautiful streets, the shopping, the food, the people, and the atmosphere. I really hope the stupid gas prices go down so I can make a trip to my favorite city.

Of course this post entails a list. You all don't quite know this about me, but I am addicted to Mac's stickies. I use them so much that I continuously have to routinely clean out the ones I don't need anymore. I think this may emphasize that I need to order some stationary...

Here is what I need to do in D.C./Georgetown before the summer ends:

P.S. Please note that Co Co. Sala refers to, Co Co. Sala CHOCOLATE lounge and boutique.  Please visit their website, here. With a restaurant devoted to chocolate, it's most definitely something that I must do.

What are some of the items on your summer list?

Girl Power

In yesterday's post, I mentioned that I was able to spend time with three amazing girls. Well, from hanging out with them, I realized how much we girls care about how we look and act. Starting in middle/high school, we damage our hair by styling it, put so many products on our face, and change out of our clothes so many a million times before leaving. Unfortunately, for so many girls, we care about our appearance for all the wrong reasons...

Today's post is on embracing self-confidence in our actions, our opinions, and our looks.

As you may have seen from yesterday's post, I have been in a bit of a music mood lately. Below in the playlist are just a few songs that I feel are perfect in stating girl power. Whenever you feel like this, take a listen to these!

Looking for even more self-confidence? Honestly, the way you dress can play a huge part in showing people how confident you are in yourself.

Avoid:
  1. Short skirts and shorts
  2. Short and tight shirts
These articles of clothing show our peers how we view ourselves...not too positive, right?
    Instead go with:
Look for pieces that you can be comfortable in, yet still look flattering. Also, look for longer length skirts and dresses along with cardigans to cover bare shoulders. The looks may shout classy, but they also scream confident.

Remember: In order to appear confident, the first thing we need to do is feel confident in ourselves. It's definitely not always easy but it's absolutely possible.

    Aquire the Fire

    Good Morning Afternoon!!!!!

For some reason this never posted, so this is a late afternoon post!

I cannot believe it's been so long since I last posted. Well I can proudly say that I am now finally done with exams, I received my grades (all good), and I took a whole week to just relax before I started work. I enjoyed having free time to hang out with friends and went on LOTS of adventures! I really can't wait to share my stories/new found bits of advice with y'all!

For today's post I really wanted to share a great experience that I was able to take part of. For you readers, it should be known that this post does focus on my faith so please be respectful. I titled my blog, "WhatMissLoves" for a reason...my faith is the number one "Love" in my life. I hope you enjoy the post!

    Backtracking to May 6th

On Friday, May 6th, I woke up early to volunteer as a chaperone for my friend's church. We attended a Christian function called Aquire the Fire that was aimed at the high school age. I was responsible for three amazing girls (8th, 10th, 11th) and what they showed me Friday and Saturday was amazing.

I'll go more in depth on these wonderful girls for tomorrow's post but for today I really want to talk about this event, Aquire the Fire.

I went with two youth groups based out of Virginia in two buses filled with kids. The kids ranged from middle school to senior high school students and each one of them had such a passion that week for knowing Christ better. It took us a few hours to reach our destination, Baltimore.

The Mariner arena was our home (minus sleeping) for Friday night and all day Saturday.

To put it all into perspective, this is the inside of the arena. The picture unfortunately makes the area look really small because it cuts out a majority of the seats that continue along the sides. Just imagine it filled on the bottom, 1st and most of the 2nd tier.

There were Christian comedians who offered some comic relief in between the "serious" times. This guy was wonderful!

We also had some wonderful speakers and actors that acted out dramas that went along with the topics. The speakers especially did such a great job addressing God's word and how we need to constantly refer to it everyday.

There were also some really great singers. The guy singing above is my favorite. He's in a band named Leeland...soooo good! We actually ran into him in Baltimore before he played...it was a very good day. On Saturday night, our youth groups left the conference late because worship was over two hours long! It was amazing.

I know many of you may not be that religious, some of you may not even believe in God at all. However, I still encourage all of you this summer to find a church/bible study/young adult retreat...something (!) that will help you to become a little closer to God. Learn about who he really is and how much he actually loves us.

To end this post today, here's a short playlist of a few songs I've been playing each day before I go to sleep. Make sure you listen to the words in each. Worship music is a form of prayer/praise to God.
    Have a great day everyone!

    To Be Young Again...

I know that for so many of us in the blogging community, we are either taking college exams now or are anticipating them in the coming weeks. This week is my crazy exam week and it really makes me think about just how much has changed since I was a little kid. Back when I was four years old, I loved everyone, I could be entertained with bubbles for hours, and I had no idea what an "exam" was. However, things are a little different and at 22 years old, I sometimes wish I could turn back the clock.
Maybe just so that I could be as cute as this little girl:

First of all, how cute is she!?!? Now, I'd like to go back and share a few things that remind of when I was that age, circa the 1990s.

    The 90s
American Girl:I was obsessed with the American Girl brand growing up. I purchased the magazines, had the dolls (Samantha, Molly, Kirsten, Felicity, the baby twins, and one that looks like me), collected the trading cards and the paper dolls. To say I was obsessed was definitely an understatement. Interesting fact though: I saw on e-bay that issues which I still had up until a few years ago were selling for $15-30!

Pretty, Pretty, Princess:I loved this game and I'm so glad that little girls still play it.

Talk Girl: My brother and I had this. I can't believe that I owned this. Oh goodness childhood geekiness at its finest.

Pogs:I never actually understood the game behind it all, instead I simply collected them because I thought they were pretty.

My Little Pony: Still popular. I remember that there used to be the My Little Pony show on T.V. which I would watch when I would go over to my friends' houses. I didn't have cable then.

Skip-It:I had a few versions of the skip it. I'm sure that my mom was happy that I had something that kept me busy for awhile outside.

What were your favorite toys to play with when you were little?
