Too Skinny?

I'm watching E! News right now and they mentioned a story about a Victoria's Secret Angel: Candice Swanepoel. The model's contract is supposedly in trouble because she's looked at as too skinny for an Angel. Now I just want to point out how great it is for a fashion company to recognize (1) what is too skinny and (2) when it needs to be controlled. Yes, Candice is beyond gorgeous but is she too skinny? Absolutely! Should girls look up to her as a role model? Probably not.

As the oldest sibling in my family, I am extremely protective over my sister. It is so important to me that she knows how crazy important it is to embrace your differences. Differences are what makes each one of us unique, even our shape and weight.

Now do I look like Candice? Definitely not. However I'm still confident that I'm beautiful in the most important eyes...Jesus Christ. I know that so many girls don't think the way I do, but instead compare themselves to unhealthy images from the media. Hopefully Victoria's Secret's action in naming what is too skinny will help others to see the truth...beauty is most definitely not about size.

What a great post! I hope this action by VS will set a precedent from this. It would be nice to see more realistic women in their advertisements. How very wonderful that you are so protective of your little sister :)

I agree with you, now if only Victoria's secret would realize there are a few other models who are a tad too thin. Great post your blog is too cute :)

I think this is such a great move on Victoria's Secret's part! As a culture, we need to shift our views to healthier role models. Thanks for sharing!
